Title: Heavy Duty Generator Mechanic (Gas and Diesel)

Responsibilities
Performs preventive maintenance on uninterrupted power supply systems, generators, and air compressors to maintain system operation and reliability to ensure uninterrupted power and continuous air supply to critical facilities, equipment and systems.
Carrying out timely running hours preventive and corrective maintenance which includes the(centrifugal filter,automatic filter, charge air cooler, turbocharger, wastegate,LT&HT three(3) way valve( Thermostat Valve), oil mist separator, etc) to ensure zero unplanned downtime by keeping a record of future service date and ensuring the
Carry-out correctivemaintenance such as cylinder head tightness check, crankshaft hot deflectionand cold deflectionmeasurements ( with the use of transducer), valve height measurements, Valve clearance check including vibration measuring.
Synchronization of generators to perform smooth operation. Also, to Ensure rapid response to alarm/emergencies to safeguard and maintain all station equipment.
Carrying out running hours(2000 running hours, 4000 running hours, ,16,000 running hours,32,000 running hours,and 48,000 running hours)maintenance activities including general overhauling of all kind of gas and dieselengines up to megawatts output in accordance with OEM guide lines.
Repairs and maintains remote standby generator systems and prime power generators, to maintain and provide a reliable communications system and electric power
Inspects, tests, evaluates, calibrates and updates generator systems and wiring to improve reliability and to assure dependability and safety and compliance.
Responds to 24-hour emergency calls to repair remote generator systems.
Repairing diesel, large generators and alternators.
Troubleshooting diesel engines, 3-phase generators, and transfer switches as they apply to various equipment and systems when voltage, amperage, cycles and phases show defects.
The installation of emergency standby generator systems.
Be familiar with industrial power generation wiring. He must also be familiar with Test Instruments and must be able to read diagrams to find and rectify faults.
Must be able to ensure that work is done in accordance with relevant codes and standards.
Must be able to determine malfunction of electrical system by visual inspection of equipment.
Must also have mechanical experience.
Qualifications / Requirements
Minimum of 5years experience in maintaining heavy duty gas and diesel engines
Minimum of HND/B.Eng
Troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining the organizations diesel and gasgenerators.
Candidate must have basic knowledge of electricity and have the ability to diagnose engine issues and examine serviceable parts for defects and excessive wear.
Other Requirements:
Minimum of 5 to 10 years’ experience servicing and repairing diesel and gaseous fuelled equipment and generator systems.
Adhere to safe work practices
Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude
Ability to troubleshoot and work independently
Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams and navigate service manuals
Flexibility to work in a 24/7 environment
Ability to respond to emergency calls as required
Maintain company provided vehicle and tools
