Title: SHEQ Officer

Responsibilities
Manage Safety functions in line with business policies, procedures and standards.
Ensure conformance with safety and OHSAS 14001 & 18001:2007 standards and requirements on thebase.
Identify system problems, investigate and recommend solutions.
Participate in Safety Incident Investigations and Risk assessments
Conduct internal audits.
Facilitate root cause investigations of non-conformances and take necessary corrective and preventative actions.
Motivate and oversee the implementation of Safety improvement initiatives.
Coordinate and attend regular Safety meetings.
Arrange and/or conduct induction training.
Prepare and forward weekly reports to the SHEQ Superintendent.
Perform a monthly H&S inspection at the sites and submit report to the SHEQ Superintendent.
Carry out regular site inspections to check policies and procedures are being properly implemented
Liaise with client’s HSE/security/operational staff to carry out regular HSE tests/drills, fire-fighting practice and other drills to keep the workers alert and sensitive to their environment.
Provide expertise and compliance support for project management.
Implement PTW when required and assist dept. to fill up the work box preparation
Monitor daily PTW implementation and revalidation
Assists in speedy and smooth response and action in case of emergencies.
Requirements
Education and Qualification:
Bachelor’s in Engineering, or Sciences in Oil and Gas related discipline
Experience:
-Minimum of 3 years’ experience in HSE with a multi-national or oil and gas organization;
-Approximately 1 to 2 years in an Operational HSE environment
-HSE Certifications e.g. Level 3 Certification in NEBOSH National General Certificate.
-Certifications in ISO 45001, ISO 14001, IOSH Working Safely, First Aid, Safety Auditing, Instructor and basic fire-fighting, will be an added advantage
-Working knowledge of Environmental discharges, Incident reporting system, Incident Investigation, HSE Auditing, JSA etc.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
-Knowledge of HSE legislation and best practice;
-Command of the English language including grammar, spelling and punctuation;
-Computer literate to include word processing, data management and email correspondence;
-Ability to produce a range of reports and statistical information;
-Effective written and verbal communication and presentation skills;
-Reporting of all incidents in line with set HSEQ and Security procedures.
-Ability to delegate to his/her subordinates for day to day activities.
-Sound organisational skills, with the ability to prioritize and react at short notice;
-Ability to ensure that the highest standards of quality are achieved;
-Ability to form successful relationships, working with all levels of the organization;
-Ability to work flexibly and under own initiative to achieve objectives;
-The resilience to deal with periods of work pressure and diplomacy to deal with difficult employees, customers, contactors and others during their duties;
-Reliable, with the ability to maintain high levels of service;
-Motivated with the ability to effectively work on own initiative;
-Physical fitness and mental agility to successful function for an extended period if required.
