The Nigeria Immigration Service 2021/2022
Nigeria Immigration Service is a government-owned paramilitary agency charged with the responsibility of controlling the movement of people coming in and out of Nigeria.

Functions of the Nigeria Immigration Services
Apart from monitoring the movement of people trooping into and out of the country, the Nigeria Immigration Service also perform other duties. Some of this functions are discussed below:
1. It Controls The Outward and Inward Movements Made by Nigerians and Foreigners:
This is the agency’s primary assignment as it was created to ensure that country’s borders are safe for the citizens and foreigners. They ensure that illegal movement into or out of the country is prohibited.
2. It Creates and Provides Every Important Traveling Document:
The agency is legally backed up by the Nigerian constitution to create all essential traveling documents to Nigerians who are willing to travel out or into the country.
3. It Creates and Issues Residence Permit To Foreigners:
It’s one thing for foreigners to travel into Nigeria, but it’s another thing for them to live freely.
Residence-permit is a paperwork that allows foreigners to live in Nigeria without any problem. This document — also known as the The Combined Expatriate Residence Permit and Aliens Card (CERPAC) — can only be processed and issued by the Nigeria Immigration Service.
4. The Agency Engages In Regular Border Surveillance Activities:
As part of its mission to checkmate the eligibility of people traveling in and out of the country, the Nigeria Immigration Services (NIS) engages in regular checking of the all the borders across the country to ensure that there are no illegal migrants.

Nigeria Immigration Service Salary Structure
Just like all other paramilitary agencies in Nigeria, the Nigeria Immigration Service salary structure is based on ranks and, sometimes, academic qualifications.
The highest ranked position in the agency is the office of the Comptroller General Immigration Service. Officers who into this category are guaranteed to earn nothing less than N3M (Three million naira) per year.
The lowest-ranked position is known as the passport officers. Anyone who falls into this category is entitled to just N30,000 per month.
However, if you’re joining the service as a graduate your minimum salary is N150,000 and other incentives.
